Dr Rachel Bullock
Head of Academy
Dr Rachel Bullock is the Head of the Undergraduate Academy, and a Macmillan Consultant in Palliative Medicine, at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Rachel holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education and has an interest in medical law and ethics.
Rachel is also Education Site Director for Three Counties Medical School in a role she shares with Dr Simonds.

Dr Khalil Hussein
Deputy Head of Academy
Dr “K” is both our Deputy Head and Senior Simulation Fellow. He has training in General Practice, as well as experience in Ambulatory Medicine and Occupational Health. He also taught Biology to students in secondary school and sixth form. K has a passion for education, particularly in human factors, and is now using his combined skills to deliver simulation-based education. He holds a PGCert in Multidisciplinary Healthcare Simulation, awarded with distinction.

Dr Luke Simonds
Education Site Director for Three Counties Medical School
Dr Luke Simonds (he/him) graduated from the University of Manchester in 2013. He has worked at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust since 2014 in various roles and is currently the Deputy Director of Medical Education and a Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine. Luke was the Deputy Head of Undergraduate Academy until 2025 and remains our Education Site Director for the Three Counties Medical School. Luke also works as an Associate Clinical Professor in Medical Education at the University of Birmingham, where he is the Head of Secondary Care Education. He has a keen interest LGBTQ+ Healthcare. Luke can be found at either WRH or the Alex on a Tuesday.
Administration Team

Julia Kershaw
Administrative Lead
Julia is responsible for overviewing all placements and for providing an efficient, approachable Administration Team for students, faculty and colleagues.

Rebecca Wise
Deputy Administrative Lead
Rebecca is responsible for the Year 5 AIP placement through University of Birmingham and the Three Counties Medical School as well as being responsible for the overview of all placements and colleagues/students in the absence of Julia.

Harry Bulow
Undergraduate Coordinator
Harry is responsible for Year 5 Obstetrics & Gynaecology as well as Year 3 placements through the University of Birmingham. Harry has worked for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust for 4 years and has only recently joined the Undergraduate Academy after previously working for the Learning & Development department.

Beth Garfield
Undergraduate Coordinator
Undergraduate Co-ordinator: Beth is responsible for Year 5 Paediatric placements as well as Year 4 Surgery Perioperative care for the University of Birmingham.
Beth has recently completed a degree in Primary Initial Teacher Education from the University of Worcester, but this is her first role in the NHS.

Clinical Skills and Simulation
This is the team that teaches required practical skills, and manages our Simulation Suite: devising new scenarios, running our advanced equipment, and leading the all-important, post-simulation Debriefs, always aiming to create a supportive, enlightening environment.

Dr Laura Tulloch
Medical Simulation Lead
Laura is an Intensive Care and Anaesthetic consultant, and Trust Lead for Medical Simulation, having oversight of both postgraduate and undergraduate simulation. She has a keen interest in human factors and patient safety and regularly runs in-situ simulations to improve outcomes within the Trust.

Matron Marion De Almeida Santos
Lead Nurse for Clinical Skills & Simulation
Marion is a Law graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing and has a Master’s Degree in Education. She has many years of clinical experience working in anaesthetics and resuscitation. Marion has worked as a University Lecturer for Nursing and Paramedics and is passionate about inter-professional learning and human factors. She has also worked as a member of the Resuscitation Council UK European Paediatric Advanced Life Support subcommittee. Marion loves teaching and is an instructor on a range of resuscitation courses, GIC, ALS, EPALS, APLS.

Sister Angie Connell
Clinical Skills & Simulation Nurse
Angie Connell is a registered General Nurse and has worked in Undergraduate Medical Education for the last 8 years, predominantly teaching clinical skills and procedures. She has a PG certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and has a HEA Fellowship. Her clinical background is cardiology and diabetes in both acute primary care.

Sister Lizzie Goddard
Clinical Skills & Simulation Nurse
Lizzie is a simulation nurse with 18 years’ clinical experience in general surgery including high dependency care and care of the critically ill patients. Lizzie has a passion for undergraduate and postgraduate education. She has completed her PG Cert – Teaching in Health Care to enable her to teach professionals. Lizzie also won Mentor of the Year in 2010.

Charge Nurse Andy McQeen
Clinical Skills & Simulation Nurse
Andy is a clinical skills and simulation nurse for WAHT Undergraduate Teaching Academy. Andy’s nursing background consists of trauma and orthopaedics, surgical HDU and recovery, oncology and critical care outreach. He has also worked in nurse education at Birmingham City University and enjoys student education and development.
Andy is an ILS instructor and ALS provider and enjoys working clinically in HDU. Away from nursing he enjoys running and playing golf.

Sister Emma Roberts
Clinical Skills & Simulation Nurse
Emma is a Clinical Skills and Simulation Nurse with an extensive clinical background in Critical Care Nursing and Organ and Tissue Donation facilitation and education. Her passion for education is born from the idea that this will improve patient care and safety in the NHS.
Outside of work, Emma loves strength training, yoga and hanging out with her King Charles Spaniel.
Clinical Teaching Fellows
Our dedicated CTFs are here for regular bedside teaching and tutorials, and to supports students in simulation or other teaching sessions. They bring a wealth of clinical knowledge, communication skills, experience in history taking and examinations.

Dr Karen Baker
Lead Clinical Teaching Fellow
Karen qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2008, then completed her foundation years and GP Training in Worcestershire.
She worked as a GP locally for a number of years, then moved into the Hospital Palliative Care Team. Karen continues to work in this team one day every other week, alongside her role as co-Lead CTF.

Dr Alexandra Muston
Research and Quality Improvement CTF
Alex graduated from the University of Birmingham, completing her foundation training in the North West Deanery before returning to the West Midlands for Core Training. She joined the Academy after completing her CT2 in 2022 as a Clinical Teaching Fellow then became Lead Clinical Teaching Fellow. In 2025 she stepped into this brand new Research and QI role within the Academy, alongside a one day per week role in Palliative Care.
Alex holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Leadership. She is currently undertaking a Masters in Medical Education at the University of Birmingham in which she has a particular interest in Medical Uncertainty. She has an interest in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education being an ALS and GIC instructor for the Resuscitation Council UK, and a member of the National Committee of the Asked to See Patient Teaching Programme.

Dr Osamuyimen Omoragbon
Paediatrics Clinical Teaching Fellow
Osa studied a BSc in biological science with a subspecialist interest in neuroscience at the University of Leicester. She then studied graduate entry medicine at the University of Bristol, graduating in 2020, and then undertook Foundation training at Norwich and Ipswich hospitals in the East Anglia deanery. She entered into paediatric training September 2022. Osa has a passion for working with children and young people, in healthcare settings and at her local church. She is currently also studying for a PG Certificate in medical education at the University of Birmingham.

Dr Efua Abankwa
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Efua completed her medical degree at the University of Birmingham where she will also complete her PG Cert in Medical Education 2025-26. She is interested in acute and general medicine and works with the gastroenterology team once a week.

Dr Katerina Bard
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Kat completed her undergraduate medical degree and a degree in biomedical science at the University of Nottingham. She has just finished her foundation training based at University Hospitals Birmingham. Kat will be undertaking a PG Cert in Medical Education along with working clinically in the Respiratory Department at Worcester Hospital.

Dr Laura Jones
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Laura graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2023, where she also completed an intercalated degree in Clinical Sciences. She went on to undertake her Foundation Training in Greater Manchester, gaining experience across a range of medical and surgical specialties. Laura has now joined WAHT as a Clinical Teaching Fellow, combining her passion for medical education with her clinical interests. She has a particular interest in ophthalmology and is currently undertaking a clinical placement in the specialty alongside her teaching commitments.

Dr Komal Nawaz
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Komal holds degrees in biomedical science and medicine. She spent some time as a medical student at Worcester Royal Hospital whilst at the University of Birmingham and also completed her foundation training there. She is currently undertaking a PG Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Birmingham and has a special interest in Accident and Emergency medicine, where she spends one day a week. Komal started as a Clinical Teaching Fellow at WAHT in August 2024.

Dr Jamie Richardson
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Jamie first studied Medical Sciences at the University of Leeds and then graduate-entry medicine at the University of Birmingham. He completed his foundation training across Worcestershire Royal and the Alexandra, Redditch. He has a keen interest in rheumatology and will be spending his clinical days with the Rheumatology team at Worcestershire Royal.

Dr Neha Seegum
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Neha graduated from Warwick Medical School, before completing her foundation training in Bath. Prior to her medical degree, she attended Cardiff University, studying Biomedical Sciences. Alongside her teaching commitments, she is spending one day a week in ITU to widen her clinical knowledge and acquire new practical skills. She is also undertaking a PGCert in Medical Education.

Dr Lucy Williams
Clinical Teaching Fellow
Lucy graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2021 and completed her foundation training in 2023. Before her appointment as a CTF for the Academy, she previously worked as a locum SHO within the Trust. She is spending her clinical time in the intensive care and anaesthetic department to widen her clinical skills experience. She is working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education during 2025-26 and her aspiration is to pursue a career in acute medicine.
